Tokyo's Coolest Sound

Perfume has a new single containing 4 new songs coming in July. "Cling Cling" was used in a TV commercial for a health drink, and "Hold Your Hand" was the theme song for TV drama "Silent Poor". "DISPLAY" and "ijiwaru na Hello" are brand new songs.

The single comes in two formats, though both are limited and include a DVD with video clips and a digest of the "Perfume FES!! 2014" Japan tour held earlier this year. The "limited pressing", which includes a photo book and is said to come in a "big box", is already mostly sold out but seems to still be available at YesAsia. The limited pressing also has one bonus on the DVD.

Some retailers include a bonus poster (with either edition) while supplies last.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has a 3rd full-length album coming very soon! "Pika Pika Fantajin" includes singles "Kira Kira Killer", "Family Party" (new album mix), "Yume No Hajima RIng Ring" (new album mix), "Mottai-Nightland" and its B-side "sungoi Aura" (new album mix), plus 5 brand new songs, a cover of CAPSULE's "do do pi do" (from album "L.D.K. Lounge Designers Killer" (2005)), and an intro track. The whole is produced by Nakata Yasutaka (CAPSULE), of course.

The album comes in 3 editions. The two limited editions ("A" and "B") include the official documentary of the "Nanda Collection World Tour 2014", though it's split onto two DVDs, one with each of these limited editions. The limited editions come as a deluxe photo book. There's also a regular edition of the CD only.

Amazon, HMV and Tower Records give away an original A5-size clear folder (while supplies last).

On related news, theatrical movie "Kyary Pamyu Pamyu 'Cinema JOHN!'" will open in theaters in Japan on July 12! The movie is a fantastic story in which KPP is revealed to be a robot!?

KANADe is the new unit of Honda Michiyo (ex-Overrocket) and T-AK (Okazaki Takashi). Both born in Kyoto, they met in London and then again in Tokyo where they started this new project. Their first single "Happy & Sad" was released digitally this week.

Formed in 1982 in Kyoto, Children Coup d'État is an improvisation/rock/jazz band led by bandmaster/bassist Hosoi Hisato. Currently the band still features two other original members, drummer Maebuchi Norihide (who also played in Modern Choki Chokies, etc.) and violinist K-ko, as well as guitarist Osada Osamu (ex-Modern Choki Chokies) and saxophonist mahi-mahi (zuppa di pesce, etc.).

This is their first full-length original album in 18 years according to their discography.

Bakubaku Dokin, the wacky and mysterious 2-girl unit formed of Yui and Naoko, finally has a debut mini-album out now! Previously they have released a 3-song EP on Towa Tei's digital label Machbeat, and also appeared on his albums "MACH2012" and "Lucky", as well as on DJ Fumiya's "Beats For Daddy". All of this has built a lot of anticipation for more of their own works.

P.O.P (previously known as P.O.P ORCHeSTRA) is a hip-hop band led by two identical twin rappers. They have long been active on stage, and have released several songs on iTunes before, but finally here comes their first album being released on Nakatsuka Takeshi's label Delicatessen Recordings.

The band has guitar, bass, flute, keyboards and drums, and their sound will appeal to Shibuya-kei fans around the world. Featured guest artists include Nakatsuka Takeshi, Bikke (Tokyo No.1 Soul Set), Small Circle of Friends, Darthreider and more.

HMV gives away a bonus commentary CD-R in which the members give details about each song. All tracks can be sampled at Amazon.

(M)otocompo (reads "otocompo") is the unit of Dr.Usui (Motocompo), and they have been performing on stage regularly since 2011. The unit's theme is to put "ska" and "electro" together, and until now they had kept a rule of not releasing any proper CD.

So here comes their first EP containing 4 songs, some of which have become regulars of their show. "Drive My Car" is a Motocompo (self-)cover!

"OK SKA"

"Cup no Fuchico" is a small woman-shaped toy that's made to fit on the edge of a cup. The character, Fuchico, comes in various positions and situations, sometimes revealing a hint of underwear like when trying to climb into the cup. The hit toy is said to have sold 5 millions.

Vanilla Beans have been chosen to sing the toy's official song. Also included on the CD is another song about the toy, though this one's lyrics were judged as not correctly representing the toy and therefore it ended up being marked unofficial.

The limited edition comes with a DVD of the music video, while another Tower Records-only limited edition of 10,000 comes with an original Fuchico wearing the chain's apron. (Since Tower Records Online doesn't ship outside of Japan, it may be possible to order it via a service like CDJapan's Special Request Shopping Service.)

Scarlatti Goes Electro is a French duo who take Scarlatti pieces and rearrange them in electro fashion. This 3rd album of theirs was praised by Jean-Jacques Perry, and it is being released on vinyl on Japanese label Out One Disc. It's produced by Kishino You-ichi, with remixes by Matsumae Kimitaka and Gangpol & Mit. The whole was mixed by Yoshida Tetsuto.

The album is available on Bandcamp, where it can be bought as a LP that comes with a download code. You can also just buy the album digitally.

xxx of Wonder (reads just "of Wonder") is a new all-star collaboration unit formed of Nanba Shiho, Dr.Usui ((M)otocompo), Frenesi, Julie Watai, and illustrator Kishida Mel. Each of the creators seem to have a defined role, with Dr.Usui writing the music, Frenesi the lyrics, Nanba Shiho singing, with album art work by Julie Watai (artist photography) and Kishida Mel (illustrations).

Included is a cover of "Humming ga kikoeru", written by Oyamada Keigo (Cornelius) and originally sung by Kahimi Karie. "Loop of Wonder" features all members singing chorus. The first video, for song "meisekimu Madonna", was directed by Nakama Norihisa (The Aprils) with choreography by Asahi Taichi (Genius).

In-store mini-live events will be held at Tower Records Shibuya on July 12 (from 19:30) and at Tower Records Akihabara on July 19 (from 19:00).

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has a live DVD/Blu-ray coming, of footage from two shows held at Yokohama Arena on January 18 and 19, 2014. These shows were her first solo shows at an arena, and had audiences totaling 24,000 people. The stage featured a large castle and 41 performers.

The first pressing comes as a digipak (further pressing will have normal packaging). CDJapan and HMV give away a promo backstage pass replica sticker, while supplies last.

"kimi no shiranai ureshii ippai"

Charisma.com is a hip-hop group of two girls from Yokohama and Kawasaki (Kanagawa prefecture), one MC (Itsuka) and one DJ (Gonchi). This is their first full-length album, released on the same day as compilation "Women in Music selected by Cibo Matto" which features one track from mini-album "Ai Ai Syndrome" (2013, CDJapan).

HMV gives away a promo sticker (while supplies last).

Charisma.com have an upcoming release tour that will stop at Liquidroom (Ebisu) on July 26, stage where they stood as Cibo Matto's special guests in May. A free in-store mini-live will be held at Tower Records Shinjuku on June 7 from 18:00.
