Towa Tei is back with a brand new, 6th album! "Sunny" is the 3rd of a trilogy started with "Flash" and "Big Fun". Featured guests include Hatori Miho (Cibo Matto), Takahashi Yukihiro, Hosono Haruomi (both YMO), Yasuda Toshiyuki, Natural Calamity, DJ Fumiya, Taprikk Sweezee, etc. One track is also performed by "O/S/T", a first recording by Tei's mysterious unit with Oyamada Keigo (Cornelius) and Sunahara Yoshinori!

Here's the first album from idol group Sakura Gakuin. I'm bringing it up because the song "Dear Mr.Socrates", sung by sub-group Twinklestars (the "baton" section) is produced by ex-Cymbals' Okii Reiji, and despite the clear idol direction with the many girls, you can surely recognize a Shibuya-kei vibe in there!.. in this song that is. As a plus it seems like all these teenage girls can really sing. Do check out the sample video clip below.

Well, this album is offered in an hallucinating 4 editions(!), three limited ones named "sa" "ku" and "ra" with each a different DVD, and a regular edition of the CD only. I'd recommend either the "ku" edition which has a segment with the "baton section" on its DVD, or just the CD alone. For those who just want the one song, iTunes Japan offers "Dear Mr.Socrates" individually.

sōtaiseiriron have been around for 4 years and have released 3 albums. This new one features songs from the previous albums along with some brand new recordings, all revamped by many famous artists: Cornelius, Buffalo Daughter, Sakamoto Ryūichi, Ōtomo Yoshihide, Suzuki Keiichi (Moonriders), Scha Dara Parr, Spank Happy (Kikuchi Naruyoshi), Arto Lindsay, Fennesz and Matthew Herbert. "haru no arashi"

Supercar (disbanded in 2005) has a new release coming, that's of previously released songs "redesigned" by former member Nakamura Kōji (aka Nakakō aka iLL). The songs are mainly taken from early albums "Three Out Change", "Jump Up", "OOYeah!" and "OOKeah!". A 2nd release, titled "RE:SUPERCAR 2" is already expected to be released on June 15.

Some audio samples can be heard at this special site where a special player allows comparing the original and new versions.

For a mere extra ¥300, the limited edition comes with a bonus disc is stock full of previously unreleased Supercar demos and lost songs, 40 tracks totaling 70 minutes.

Aira Mitsuki has a 2nd live DVD coming up, this time of the awesome final show of her latest tour for 3rd album "???". This show was held last January 30 at Liquidroom in Ebisu, Tokyo.

I had the great pleasure to be in the audience, and you can read my report here. The full show really contained some 8 extra songs, though we're still left with a total of 24 tracks that should amount to almost 2 hours full of energy and fun dancing. "Norageki!" is an anime film directed by Andō Hiroaki (storyboard artist for "Tekkonkincreet"), with original music by Nakata Yasutaka (capsule) and a new song by Meg. So far there are no plans of the music being released on CD.
