Tokyo's Coolest Sound

Wink Music Service is an exciting brand new group formed of Keitaro Takanami (Playtime Rock, ex-Pizzicato Five) and Sally Kubota (The Phantom Gift, The Scooters, ex-Les 5-4-3-2-1, ex-SOLEIL). The project is expected to feature various guests, and the first single is sung by Angie Hiyori, an actress and currently high-school student who has a Colombian father and Japanese mother. The release day coincides with her 18th birthday! (Happy Birthday!)

The A-side is an original of which the music was written by Yumi Okada (who was the arranger of SOLEIL), with lyrics by Yūko Iizumi (of microstar). The B-side is a cover of Hippie Hippie Shakes' "My Funny Honey" (Japanese title "hen na onna no ko"), a song of which the music was composed by K-taro Takanami and lyrics written by Konishi Yasuharu (Pizzicato One, ex-Pizzicato Five). This first release comes as a 7" single and both songs are also available digitally. Check out the teaser clip below!

Musicians are Sally Kubota on bass, Hideki "Gen" Hara on drums, Yujin Amano on guitar, with all other musical instruments by Yumi Okada. The mix engineer is Seiki Satō, and art direction & design by Sally Kubota.

An in-store event will be held on Wednesday April 19 at Pied Piper House (Tower Records Shibuya 6F) starting at 19:00. There will be some talk, a mini-live show and an autograph session. Guests will be Sally Kubota, Angie Hiyori, Hideki "Gen" Hara, K-taro Takanami (remotely) and Yoshi Nagato (Pied Piper House). The event is free to watch.
