Sally Kubota Group feat. Natsumi Kiyoura "Just What I Always Wanted"

Here's a 2nd release from the "Girls At Our Best" series of cover EPs produced by Sally Kubota (The Scooters, ex-SOLEIL, The Phantom Gift, Les 5-4-3-2-1). This one features singer Natsumi Kiyoura (of Tweedees), and includes covers of "Just What I Always Wanted" (originally sung by Mari Wilson), "umi" (Southern All Stars), "Tighten Up" (Archie Bell & the Drells' song that was covered by YMO) and "Town Called Malice" (The Jam). Check out the sampler clip below.

Mari Wilson herself commented on her song's cover, saying "Ooh, a ska version of 'Just What I Always Wanted', how unusual and fabulous! Natsumi has such a sweet voice too. I love it!".

The music is again performed by Sally Kubota Group, which features Nakayama Tsutomu on Hammond organ and Hara "Gen" Hideki on drums, joined by guest musician Takashi Itani on percussions.

This release comes as a CD in a 7"-sized package. Within Japan, the release can also be ordered directly from the label's online shop Merurido.

A release event will be held on Sunday November 27 from 12:30 at Shinjuku Rock Cafe Loft, with talk and DJ (details), featuring Sally Kubota, Natsumi Kiyoura and also Emiri Kanou (who sang in the previous release).
