Tokyo's Coolest Sound

Bassist Sally Kubota (The Scooters, ex-SOLEIL, Les 5-4-3-2-1) has just turned 60 this summer, and his latest project is Sally Kubota Group, a trio that features Nakayama Tsutomu (The Scooters) on organ, Hara "Gen" Hideki on drums, and himself on bass. They are releasing two consecutive singles, and the first — "Do You Believe In Magic?" (, Spotify, YouTube Music) — was released on November 3 featuring collaborations with Hirayama Miki and RYUTist.

This second single features Nomiya Maki on the A-side with a brand new arrangement of "Twiggy Twiggy", a song that first appeared on her first album "Pink no kokoro" (1981) and was later covered by Pizzicato Five. The B-side is a cover of "Soleil's Kanon" (from SOLEIL's album "Lollipop Sixteen"), this time sung in French by teenage singer/model MANON (Instagram) in a dub arrangement very different from the original. The artwork is by Sally Kubota A download code is included, and the single should be released digitally like the previous.
