Maki Nomiya's bon-odori versions of "Tokyo wa yoru no 7ji" ("the night is still young") and "Sweet Soul Revue" have been released on 7"! "Bon-odori" refers to the traditional dances that are performed in summer festivals ("matsuri"), of which the musical style is often called "ondo". The Pizzicato Five hit songs were rearranged with Japanese traditional instruments and sung by the original singer. Check out the videos below that explain how to dance along.
The two songs were first released digitally in 2016, and also included as bonus tracks on album "otoko to onna 'Un Homme et Une Femme' ~ Nomiya Maki, French Shibuya-kei o utau." (2016) (

Maki will perform this weekend at the "Niagara Bon-odori", on July 12 and 13 from 19:30 at Yoyogi Park (near Shibuya). On Sunday, she will be joined by Ken Yokohama of Crazy Ken Band. It's free to attend!
