Joe Nakamura & Eastwoods "Hello City Lights" (12"/Download)

Joe Nakamura & Eastwoods, of which the leader Joe Nakamura is formerly of 90s band The Happies, has just released a first album titled "Hello City Lights". Taking inspiration from music of the 60s to 80s, such as soul, funk and blues, the whole has a concept of "garage soul meets city pop". This album follows the release of four 7" singles over the past years, and included are also several brand new songs. Check out the new music video of the song "Living Dead of Akatsuki" below, a zombie feature directed and illustrated by Joe Nakamura himself.

Joe Nakamura & Eastwoods is a super-group of eight, also featuring drummer Yūko Kitayama (Ryusenkei, etc.), bassist Toshirō Matsuki (Makkin & the new music stuff), guitarist Kazuyuki Aoshiba (Backdoor Men), keyboardist Mahito Fujiwara, percussionist Okyon a.k.a. Yasuko Fukuda (Wack Wack Rhythm Band, Vacation Three), tenor saxophonist Toshiya Mitsuhashi (WWRB) and trumpeter Tomoko Kunimi (WWRB, Sloppy Joe, nimit & co.).

The album is available as a limited LP, as well as digitally. The jacket artwork is by Ruminz, who had also illustrated all previous four 7" singles. The music was mixed and mastered by Keiichi Sokabe (Sunny Day Service), who runs the Rose Records label.

An upcoming show of Joe Nakamura & Eastwoods (less two brass musicians) will be held on December 23 from 11:10 a.m. at Top Beat Club in Ogikubo. The event will also feature The Pen Friend Club, The Befores and The Clearasils. Find details here.
