Tokyo's Coolest Sound

Jazz pianist and singer-songwriter Kawano Emi brings us this first swinging release, produced by young jazz DJ Miura Makoto (aka Monsieur Mieurax) and released on his label Comedy Tonight. This contains 4 brilliant original female-vocal jazz songs written by Emi herself, and performed as a trio with bass and drums.

Emi Kawano is a composer, a singer/songwriter, and a pianist. Her vocals manage to convey both hope and sorrow that put listeners at ease. Yet known only in small jazz clubs in Tokyo, her music expresses a sense of youthful melancholy and may seem like a harsh message in the real world. But she never loses her attention to the rhythm and melody. The spotlight has begun to shine on Emi, and her talent promises to keep it shining for years to come.
