Shindō Mitsuo has been active as a prolific art director since the 80's, creating countless CD, record and poster artworks for Japanese artists of all kinds including many of the Shibuya-kei scene such as Pizzicato Five, Flipper's Guitar, Cornelius, Kahimi Karie, Original Love, etc. His currently ongoing exhibition "Be My Baby" displays over 1,000 of his works, and this official catalog of 390 pages is to contain all of his main works plus new interviews and artist commentary (Konishi Yasuharu, Yokoyama Ken (Crazy Ken Band) and Lily Franky).
The book will be available from July 24 at the Setagaya Library Museum shop, and is expected to be available at other bookshops and online from August 3 (pre-orders can be placed already).
Also being the leader of The Scooters, band formed in 1978 and still active to this day, a new 7"+CD single of the exhibition's theme song "Be My Baby" was released. An analog edition of Pizzicato FIve's "On Her Majesty's Request" was also released.
The "Be My Baby" exhibition is being held at the Setagaya Literary Museum until September 17, 2018, open from 10:00 to 18:00 (ticketing closes at 17:30) except on Mondays.
