Classic video game Pac-Man is celebrating this year its 40th anniversary! The game first appeared as an arcade game on May 22, 1980. A compilation album of original collaboration tracks is expected to be released this fall, featuring Ken Ishii, Buffalo Daughter, Nakatsuka Takeshi, Pasocom Music Club, sasakure.UK and DiAN (unit of Seidenba Saku, A-bee and immi). Each song uses sampled sounds from the game, and the mastering was done by Sunahara Yoshinori.
Starting on the 40th anniversary to the day, a few tracks are to be released digitally in advance every month. The first bunch is of three tracks by Ken Ishii and Pasocom Music Club, including new theme song "Join The Pac" by Ken Ishii. Check the music video below! The next bunch in June will be by Nakatsuka Takeshi and sasakure.UK. Stay tuned!
A club mix of Ken Ishii's "Join The Pac" was included in limited editions of his latest album "Möbius Strip", released last November, and a bonus 7" with a version of the song was included in Limited Edition Type A (CDJapan, Amazon, HMV).
