Tokyo's Coolest Sound

"Tokyo Motown Sound" band The Scooters (Instagram, 𝕏) are releasing a massive boxed set in honor of their leader Mitsuo Shindō, also known as the famous Shibuya-kei art director, who passed away on February 10, 2023, at the age of 75.

The box includes 5 CDs of all their recordings: albums "Musumegokoro wa Scooters" (1982) and "Une Manche et La Belle" (2012) with bonus tracks, all singles from the recent Vivid Sound years, live album "The Scooters Comes Alive (The Basement Tape)" and a "rarities" disc. Several tracks are available on CD for the first time. There's also one DVD full of old and recent footage, including some from a tribute show held after the leader's passing.

Also in the box are a T-shirt, five A2-size recto-verso posters, and one A3-size booklet. The whole was designed by Terry Johnson a.k.a. Teruhiko Yumura who Mitsuo Shindō aspired to.

A special exhibition will be held at the Bankrobber Labo gallery within HMV record shop Shibuya 2F from February 7 to 18, 2025 (11:00 to 21:00). Entrance is free. Find details here.
