Tokyo's Coolest Sound

The "Tanzaku CD" format, a.k.a. 8cm or 3" or mini CD, is celebrating its 37th anniversary today February 21, 2025. Ten new titles in the nostalgic format are being released on this day. There have been many releases in the last few years, mostly indie, and especially on July 7th which was named "Tanzaku CD Day" starting in 2023.

A special event will be held on February 24, 2025, at Shibuya Loft Heaven, featuring most of the artists of the anniversary releases. Details and ticket reservations can be found here.

TAMAYURAM "She'll -ano ko ga sekai o yurusu made-" (8cm CD)
TAMAYURAM 「She'll -あの子が世界を赦すまで-」

First single of the female duet vocal unit TAMAYURAM, formed of Mayutan (Masakosan, Tokyo Kakehiki Club, etc.) and Rukatama, and produced by Takurō Gō (detune.). The A-side is a grunge-y original tune, and the B-side is a cover of "sakurasaku" from Puffy's debut album "amiyumi".

Nya♡Wave "Radar Man" (8cm CD)
ニャー♡ウェイヴ 「レーダーマン」

New wave punk band fronted by Evenyan Roller Coaster. "Radar Man" is a cover of Halmens, while the B-side is an original.

Techno girl Tnaka (previously known as marble≠marble) does Detroit kayō. The B-side is a cover of Puffy's "Asia no junshin".

nō aru taka wa tsume o kakusu "mayoi mayomayo Ushiku Daibutsu" (8cm CD)
能ある鷹は爪を隠す 「まよいまよまよ牛久大仏」

Special unit formed of Shirō Saginomiya (Tokyo Kakehiki Club) and Yui Kohinata. The long unit name can be shortened as "No~taka". Ranko Suichūka (Tokyo Kakehiki Club) (a.k.a. Mayutan) also sings chorus. The B-side is a cover of Yui Kohinata's "Kohinata nari no Blues" done in a No~taka version.

ルカタマ 「女優志願 c/w 愛・おぼえていますか」

3rd of Rukatama's 8cm CD series. Covers of collaboratioins of lyricist Kazumi Yasui and songwriter Kazuhiko Katō. "joyū shigan" is from Kazuhiko Katō's 8th solo album, while "ai oboeteimasuka" is a song they wrote for Mari Iijima.
