Kanako Hara "Tokyo City Pop vol.1 'Portrait'"
Songwriter and pianist Kanako Hara has her take at city pop in this new EP that is described as "Neo Tokyo City Pop". Each of the original songs features a different guest singer. Some classics were also sampled in the making: "saigo no Kiss nara" takes from Momoko Kikuchi's "Glass no sōgen" (1987), and "Tokyo Neon" samples Anri's "Remember Summer Days" (1983). The album is available on CD and also digitally.
Also, two 7" cuts have been announced to be released for City Pop on Vinyl 2023, to be held on August 5: "Tonight is the Night / Tokyo Neon" (CDJapan, HMV, Tower) and "saigo no Kiss nara / 360" (CDJapan, HMV, Tower).
