Tokyo's Coolest Sound

For the 4th year, Tanzaku CD Day was held on July 7 (same day as the Tanabata festival), following the 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions that revived the nostalgic 8cm CD format (3" CD/mini CD). This year again has many great releases for all types of music fans and collectors of the cute format. Find some recommendations below, and check out the full list.

Beware that you may need a special adapter to play the smaller disc in regular CD players (except those designed to support them). Disk Union and Tower Records offer original ones, though these only ship directly within Japan.

TAMAYURAM "Pink, Pink, Pink!" (3" CD)
TAMAYURAM 「ぴんく、ピンク、Pink!」

This is the 3rd single (all tanzaku CDs) of TAMAYURAM, the collaboration unit of Mayutan (𝕏) (Masakosan, Tokyo Kakehiki Club, etc.) and Rukatama (Instagram) produced by Takurō Gō (Detune.). The title song is a cover of a song featured in 80's children's TV show "dokincho! nemurin", originally sung by Satoko Yamano.

3776 Extended 「六四」

Side-project of idol unit 3776 (read "Minanaro"). Often experimenting with odd time signatures and numbers, the title also reads as "6-4". The title song has a mix of 6- and 4-beat polyrhythms, while the B-side has 6- and 11-beat (7+4) measures while still being a pop song.
