1. xiangyu "michibata ni negi" (2023)
(Japanese title: xiangyu 「道端にネギ」)

We're starting with the most recent song by xiangyu (Twitter, Instagram), "michibata ni negi". It's from her latest EP titled "OTO-SHIMONO" (Spotify, Album by xiangyu & Gimgigam - Apple Music, YouTube Music) made in collaboration with trackmaker Gimgigam.

"Otoshimono" translates to "lost items" (or in a more direct translation, "dropped things"), as xiangyu's recent tracks were all about things found on the street are all in: shoes, gloves, and dentures... In this new song she sang about inadvertently dropped negi (green onion or Japanese leek). While not an everyday sight, it's also not a very rare one in Japan as these long veggies may be the most likely to slip out of a shallow shopping bag. Check out this cool video!

xiangyu will be part of the "Synchronicity '24" festival to be held in various venues in Shibuya on April 14. Tickets are available at Pia.
