Various Artists "Café Après-midi meets Studio Ghibli"

This is a compilation of covers of songs that appeared in Ghibli movies. Selected and supervised by Toru Hashimoto (𝕏) (Café Après-midi, Suburbia), it features all new recordings by many Shibuya-kei related artists and more: Konishi Yasuharu, Keiichi Sokabe, Tetsurō Yafune, Miyuki Hatakeyama, bird, YAKENOHARA feat. Clémentine, cubismo grafico feat. Kaori Takeda, Wack Wack Rhythm Band feat. Michiru Hoshino, etc.

In addition to the CD album, there's an LP edition that can be ordered at the label's online shop (ships internationally). Also, all 12 songs are expected to be released in 7" format over the following month, starting with Konishi Yasuharu / Keiichi Sokabe "hikōkigumo / yasashisa ni tsumerareta nara" and Wack Wack Rhythm Band feat. Michiru Hoshino / YAKENOHARA feat. Clémentine "Rouge no dengon / nagisa no tani no Nausicaä", both to be released on June 17. The jacket artwork of all of these was done by a landscape painter and an animator who have worked for Studio Ghibli.

All of the songs have also been released digitally, though they must be searched for by artist name individually. Watch the official audio videos below (published on the label's YouTube channel), which show the artwork painting in the works.

On Friday, June 12, an in-store event will be held at Tower Records Shibuya (6F) from 19:00, featuring Konishi Yasuharu and Toru Hashimoto. It is expected that the upcoming 7" release of "hikōkigumo / yasashisa ni tsumerareta nara" will also be sold in advance.
