1. YIKO "monster" (2024)
YIKO (𝕏) (pronounced "ikō") is a brand new band fronted by singers Monari Wakita (ex-Especia) and Satori (ex-The Nampa Boys, ex-Healthy Dynamite Club), with five more members totaling seven. The song "monster" is from their first mini-album, self-titled "YIKO" (Spotify, , YouTube Music), also available on CD (Amazon, HMV, Tower Records).
YIKO's next show is planned to be on March 19 at Shinjuku Marz, although Monari will be absent that day. Find details and tickets here.

2. Milk Talk "Electric Indigo (Edit)" (2024)
Milk Talk (Instagram, 𝕏, Bandcamp), the duo formed of The Hair Kid, a U.S.-born musician who lives in Himeji (Hyōgō pref.) and the Tokyo-based vocalist Q.i, has released recently the new song "Electric Indigo" as the music video below, as well as a version on streaming/download platforms: "Electric Indigo (Edit)" (Bandcamp, Spotify, , YouTube Music, OTOTOY).
Be sure to check out their first album "Milk Talk" (Bandcamp, Spotify, , YouTube Music), since which was also released a Seiho remix of the song "Playboy" (Bandcamp).
Milk Talk will perform a free show in Tokyo on Saturday March 29, at Shibuya Stream Hall. It seems that parts of the event will also be streamed online. Look out for details on the website of event "Kendrix Experience" where it's possible to RSVP.
3. Francis "VIVA! Coffee Jelly" (2021)
(Japanese title: Francis 「VIVA! コーヒーゼリー」)
The song "VIVA! Coffee Jelly" is by Francis, the solo project of Makoto Ori, and appeared on his latest album "Bolero" (Bandcamp, Spotify, , YouTube Music). Check out the cute music video below! In May 2023, Makoto Ori was featured on a popular TV show to talk about coffee jelly, a dessert that can be eaten at many old style coffee shops throughout Japan (watch a teaser clip on YouTube).
The CD album "Bolero" can also be purchased at Bandcamp, Amazon, HMV and Tower Records.
Francis will hold a special show for his 60th birthday on March 13, at Shibuya La.mama. There will be sets by Francis, Francis with Lily, long-time-no-see Francis avec Haruko, and also an appearance of Pasocom Music Club. Find details here.
4. The Aprils "sekai o koete" (2005)
(Japanese title: エイプリルズ 「世界を超えて」)
Back to 2005, this is future-pop band The Aprils' "sekai o koete" from the album "Space Dream Bathroom". This album is out of print and not widely available digitally, but it can at least be found on iTunes Japan. YesAsia also has a re-issue from 2010 available for order.

5. Machida Girls Choir "Planetarium no aru machi de" (2021)
(Japanese title: まちだガールズ・クワイア 「プラネタリウムのある町で」)
Machida Girls' Choir is a chorus group formed in 2015 and based in Machida, Tokyo. The song "Planetarium no aru machi de" (translates roughly to "In a town where there's a planetarium"), was written by pianist and singer-songwriter Tetsuro Yafune, and it appeared on their latest album "Orion-za ryūseigun" (Spotify, , YouTube Music). The album "Orion-za ryūseigun" is also available on CD (HMV, Tower Records, CDJapan, Amazon).

6. Frenesi "Gendai" (2012)
(Japanese title: フレネシ 「ゲンダイ」)
Next is a song by Frenesi (Instagram, 𝕏), from her latest full-length original album, "Gendai" (Spotify, , YouTube Music). You can watch the music video of the album's title song "Gendai" below. The CD album can be found at Amazon, HMV and Tower Records.
Since "Gendai", Frenesi released an album of early and rare works titled "Dolphino" (2013) (Spotify, , YouTube Music).

7. Chie Horiguchi "Cosmic Highway" (2025)
Guitarist and singer-songwriter Chie Horiguchi (Learners) recently released her new song "Cosmic Highway" as a 7" single and digitally (Spotify, , YouTube Music)! The 7" single has for B-side an exclusive cover of country favorite "Why You Been Gone So Long".
This new song follows original album "Outsider", since which her live album "We Saw The Light" was also released. Like the latter, the new single was also recorded with The Desperado Gentlemen: Kōsuke Miyashita on pedal steel guitar (of Phono Tones), Hiroyuki Kitajima on double bass, and Kosuke Wakiyama on drums.
For those in Japan, it's also possible to order a signed copy of the 7" directly from the artist's online shop, or otherwise at Tower Records or Disk Union.
Chie will make an appearance in a special event for Gakuji "Chabe" Matsuda's 55th birthday, to be held on Friday, Feb. 21 at Shindaita Fever. Find details here.
