This episode starts with the 20-second jingle "Tokyo's Coolest Sound", made by Mark Robinson, part of the soundtrack of "The BJ Rubin Show: Back In Black" (2020)! The soundtrack is available on Bandcamp.

1. Kidder Friendly Club "Missing Milk" (2022)

Kidder Friendly Club (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) is a 4-piece lo-fi garage pop band which just released its first album this summer. Titled "Kidder Friendly Airways" (2022) (Spotify, , YouTube Music), it's a concept album revolving around an imaginary trip to the UK. "Missing Milk" is a song that was written taking inspiration from the milk character that appears in Blur's music video for the song "Coffee and TV".

Kidder Friendly Club's next show will be on September 14 at Koenji Green Apple. It will be the last show with their guitarist Miyaji Pop who has announced she will be leaving the group.

2. °C-want you! "Don't Poy Me!" (2022)

This is singer-songwritter °C-want you!'s latest song, "Don't Poy Me!" (2022) (Spotify, , YouTube Music, OTOTOY). "poy" (or "poi") is a word meaning "throw away carelessly" (often used for cigarette butts). The music is arranged by Mutō Seiji (known for arranging hit songs like AKB48's "koi suru Fortune Cookie"). The song was released digitally in July, followed by a 7" in August which apparently quickly sold out.

3. CHILDISH TONES feat. Beni Usakura "Daikirai Collection" (2022)
(Japanese title: CHILDISH TONES feat. 宇佐蔵べに 「ダイキライ コレクション」)

This is the brand new song by Childish Tones (Instagram, Twitter) feat. Beni Usakura (Instagram, Twitter). The song "Daikirai Collection" was just released as a split 7" single, titled "Summer Together EP" (2022) (Bandcamp, HMV), of which the flipside is by Nagoya band BLUEVALLEY. It can also be found digitally on Bandcamp.

The song "Daikirai Collection" has music written by leader Nemoto De Chôbeaullet and lyrics by YURINA da GOLD DIGGER (Magic, Drums & Love). The music video below was directed by Childish Tones' Nishioka Diddley, who is also a chiptune arttist. Childish Tones is a band that plays rock'n'roll original songs and covers using only toy musical instruments. I'm the one who plays the mini drum set.

Childish Tones feat. Beni Usakura can next be seen live on September 10 at Shimokitazawa Club Que, part of the release party of compilation album "Nu Psychic Teen Sounds!". Also playing will be Learners and BLUEVALLEY. The show can also be watched online, find details here.

4. The Pen Friend Club "Ketzal" (2022)

"Ketzal" is a brand new song by The Pen Friend Club, from their new 8th album "The Pen Friend Club" (Spotify, , YouTube Music) released just this week. The album is available on CD and also digitally, with an LP edition coming on December 3. The Pen Friend Club are celebrating this year their 10th anniversary.

A free in-store mini-live will be held on September 11 at HMV record shop Shibuya from 15:00. Also, a 10th-anniversary show will be held on September 24 at Shimokitazawa Live Haus. Find all details here.

5. Monari Wakita "La Shangri La" (2022)
(Japanese title: 脇田もなり 「La Shangri La」)

This is the latest song by Monari Wakita, "La Shangri La" (2022) (Spotify, , YouTube Music), released on 7" and also digitally in August. The dance track has music written and produced by Dorian, and the lyrics were written by YURINA da GOLD DIGGER.

Monari will do this month a show for her 6th anniversary, to be held on September 23 at Moon Romantic in Aoyama. Although it's already sold out, it will be possible to watch it online. Find details here.

6. MANON, PANPAN YEEYEE, HNC "Lazy Bandits" (2022)

This is a collaboration of French-Japanese singer MANON, Thailandese singer PANPAN YEEYEE, in a track produced by HNC (producer of all of MANON's early tracks). The song is "Lazy Bandits" (2022) (Spotify, YouTube Music, ), and there's a music video that you can watch here below (directed by danbabeboo).

7. xiangyu & Gimgigam "tofu so good" (2022)

xiangyu (Twitter, Instagram) released just recently two new songs in collaboration with trackmaker Gimgigam, "tofu so good" being one of them. Check out digital EP "tofu so good / ZARIGANI" (2022) (Spotify, , YouTube Music).

This release followed "LIFE!" (produced by Kenmochi Hidefumi (Wednesday Campanella)), previous to which was another single produced by Gimgigam titled "Manhole".

8. KOMONO LAKE feat. gb "Easy" (2022)

To end this time's selection is the latest song by natural city pop unit KOMONO LAKE. The song "Easy" (2022) (Spotify, , YouTube Music) was released in July and it's a collaboration with rapper gb (Instagram, Twitter). Watch the lyric video below.
