Tokyo's Coolest Sound

A 4th CD EP from the "Girls At Our Best" series by Sally Kubota Group has just been released. This time it features singer Miki Hirayama, who sings covers of The Velvet Underground's "I'm Waiting For The Man" and France Gall's "Zozoi". In addition to those, four songs played live in a show held at the New Ginger Museum in September 2023 are also included, all of which are songs from her album "Onigashima" (1982) that was produced by Haruo Chikada.

Sally Kubota Group features Sally Kubota on bass, Nakayama Tsutomu on Hammond organ and Hara "Gen" Hideki on drums, joined by guest musician Takashi Itani on percussions. Also, Yūko Iizumi (of microstar) sang backing vocals on "Zozoi", and the live songs also feature chorist Natsumi Kiyoura (of Tweedees) and guitarist nelo.

Sally Kubota's band The Phantom Gift has some upcoming shows, on December 24 at U.F.O. Club (details), on January 27 at Top Beat Club (details & tickets) and on February 10 at Flowers Loft (details).
