Singer-songwriter/trackmaker Mom has just released this week a new album titled "Owari No Caricature" (translates to "Caricature of the end")! Maika Loubté has just released another brand new song in anticipation of her upcoming album! This song is a collaboration with singer/producer AAAMYYY, and it has a drum'n'bass touch for a result that Maika calls "drum'n'pop". This is the 5th digital single so far that is expected to be included on her new album.

Maika's previous latest song "System", that one in collaboration with Ryan Hemsworth, can be watched in a performance with analog synth on YouTube.

Limited Animation Version - Special Short Music Video

Dance music band THE IMAGE has just released a 2nd mini-album digitally, titled "2". It's been just three months since the first, "1", and the two singles released since then are included ("Love Is Blind" and "Paradise"). Watch the music videos below, then listen to the whole on your preferred streaming/download platform.

THE IMAGE is led by singer Nakamura Michihiro, with Taku Tomizawa (Number the., Group Tamashii) on guitar, Ori Makoto (aka Francis, ex-The Collectors) on bass, and jazz drummer Hajime. Several songs so far also feature guest singer arvin homa aya (ex-Jazztronik).

1. Hazy Sour Cherry "Tour De Tokyo" (2019)

Hazy Sour Cherry (Instagram, Facebook, Bandcamp) is a band that was formed in 2018, and features singer Tsuzumi (also of OCHA∞ME), guitarist Jun (also of HATEMAN) and drummer Karin. The song "Tour De Tokyo" is from their 1st album of the same name, "Tour De Tokyo" (2019, Bandcamp, Spotify, , YouTube Music). The album can be found on colored LP via Bandcamp.

A 2nd album titled "Strange World" has been announced for release on CD and digitally this summer, with a vinyl edition to come later!

2. Les sœurs du bleuet "blueberry sisters song" (2021)

This is a song that appears on the compilation "explore the wonderful voices of bleu? girls compilation vol.1 composed by the Caraway" (2021, Bandcamp). It's a sort of concept album with all the songs produced by the Caraway's Osamu Shimada (SoundCloud) (also a member of Swinging Popsicle) and sung by various female singers. Les sœurs du bleuet is a duet of shiho (member of Sucrette, mini kyute) and DJ stereo, formed for the occasion.

The album was released for Record Store Day but the 10" vinyl sold out very quickly. However it's still available digitally via Bandcamp.

3. Mukaju Dan "Mon chéri" (2020)
(Japanese title: 無果汁団 「モン・シェリー」)

Mukaju Dan is the production unit of arranger Shocktarou and composer Ton-chan. Last year they released their first album "Madoromu" (Spotify, , YouTube Music) on which "Mon chéri" appears. Misaki is the guest singer on this album.

4. Frun Frin Friends "Vanilla" (2021)
(Japanese title: Frun Frin Friends 「バニラ」)

Frun Frin Friends is an idol duo formed of Beni Usakura (also a member of idol group APOKALIPPPS, and most often fronting toy instrument rock'n'roll band Childish Tones) and Aku Nayuta.

Formed in April 2020, the duo had been releasing singles steadily, and finally released a full-length album titled "Frun Frin Friends" (Spotify, , YouTube Music) this month.

5. xiangyu "Milano Sandwich A" (2021)
(Japanese title: xiangyu 「ミラノサンドA」　"Milano sando A")

"Milano Sandwich A" (Spotify, ) is the latest song by xiangyu (Twitter, Instagram). It takes its name from a popular menu item of the Doutor café chain. The music video below takes you to many of the Doutor shops. Despite that, it's not some official promotion trick but rather seems to be a guerilla style love letter in xiangyu's style (who previously also sang about Baskin Robbins and various other food among other daily life topics).

Also check out xiangyu's latest EP "Kiki" (2020). You can also watch on YouTube an online performance she did in February (the first 30 minutes are a mix by her sound producer Kenmochi Hidefumi).

6. DÉ DÉ MOUSE & TANUKI "The Night of Neon Light feat. HITOMITOI" (2021)
(Japanese title: DÉ DÉ MOUSE & TANUKI 「Neon Lightの夜 feat. 一十三十一」 "Neon Light no yoru feat. HITOMITOI")

DÉ DÉ MOUSE and UK producer TANUKI (Twitter, SoundCloud) just recently released this collaboration single which features singer hitomitoi titled "The Night of Neon Light" (Bandcamp, Spotify, , YouTube Music). The artwork is by Korean artist Billie Snippet, and the lyric video below was made by YMCK.

A 7" vinyl edition was released for Record Store Day this month, but it seems to have sold out quick (I'm still hoping to find it somewhere).

7. THE IMAGE "Love Is Blind" (2021)

THE IMAGE is a dance music band that just started this year, led by singer Nakamura Michihiro. Other musicians are Taku Tomizawa (Number the., Group Tamashii) on guitar, Ori Makoto (aka Francis, ex-The Collectors) on bass, and jazz drummer Hajime. 8. COUNTJOKE "kanpeki na asa" (2021)
(Japanese title: 冗談伯爵 (jōdan hakushaku) 「完璧な朝」)

COUNTJOKE is the unit of Naoki Maezono and Toshiya Arai. Formed in 2013, they had so far released several singles, as well as a collection of those titled "ZERO" available only digitally.

This month they finally released a first official album titled "ONE" (2021, Spotify, , YouTube Music, OTOTOY), also released on vinyl for Record Store Day (including download).

Buffalo Daughter just released a brand new song titled "ET (Densha)", both as a music video and on download/streaming platforms. Watch the music video (directed by Berlin-based artist Ryoichi Kurokawa) below.

It was also announced that a brand new album titled "We Are The Times" will be released on September 17! This song will be included.

This follows EP "Continuous Stories of Miss Cro-magnon (20 Years Later)" that was released on Bandcamp two weeks ago. It has been exactly 7 years since previous album "Konjac-tion" (2014).

Les Sewing Sisters (Facebook) is a duo based in L.A. and formed of Lun*na Menoh and Saori Mitome. Their music is made of nothing but sounds sampled from sewing machines (no drums or synths) and their voices. Find a review and interview on Synthbeat.com.

Since 2019 they had been performing in people's homes, or more specifically inside or in front of their closet.

A documentary about Lun*na Menoh titled "Who Is Lun*na Menoh" premiered early this year. Look out for an opportunity to see it.

"Not Over You feat. LUVRAW"

Here comes a new 7" single by singer-songwriter and "neo new music" producer Yoshida Tetsuto (Twitter)! The A-side is a self cover of the latest song he wrote for city-pop virutal idol unit Sputrip (find the original here), while the B-side is a 7" version of the song "chiisana tenohira" which he had contributed to a charity compilation for live venue Shichōshitsu (in Jimbōchō, Tokyo). The B-side's lyrics were written by Uratani Haruna (ex-WHY@DOLL).

In terms of solo releases, this follows 7" single "hitomeguri / hikari no naka e" (2019).

For those in Japan, ordering directly from label Narisu Records gives a promo CD-R.

Negicco has just released digitally a new version of the song "bokura wa tomodachi". First having been recorded in 2006 part of UX Niigata TV 21's "Team ECO" project, this time it comes as a version with vocals newly recorded. The song was written and arranged by their producer connie.

Negicco debuted in July 2003 and are celebrating this month their 18th anniversary. A special talk show will be streamed on YouTube on July 25 from 15:00 (JST). Official info here.

Electro artist Tentenko has just released an album that consists of a selection of 13 tracks, mostly ones that were first released on self-made CD-Rs (as well as on Bandcamp) from 2018 to 2021, but also including previously unreleased song "The Air". Crazy Ken Band is releasing this week a 7" of two songs that first appeared on a compilation titled "Showa Residence>>RED" released on CD in 2002. Port of Notes, the unit of singer Miyuki Hatakeyama and guitarist Daisuke Oshima (aka DSK), is celebrating this year its 25th anniversary! This new album titled "Two" was recorded by just the two, and consists of self-covers of their previous songs including hits "(You are) More Than Paradise" and "Complaining Too Much". Zoomgals (formed of Namichie, Marukido, ASOBOiSM, AKKOGORILLA, valknee and Haruko Tajima) suddenly dropped today a new single out now digitally!

Titled "Conspiracy Hairy" or in Japanese "Immoron" (translates to "Pubic hair theory"), it's of course about pubic hair! The track features rap group Dos Monos (Twitter) and was produced by their trackmaker Zo Zhit (Dos Monos). It was recorded & mixed by Illicit Tsuboi. The lyric video seen below was made by Haruko Tajima.

This song is the follow-up to "GALS feat. Yayoi Daimon" released in December.

Frun Frin Friends is the idol unit of Beni Usakura (Twitter) (also of APOKALIPPPS and featured in Childish Tones) and Aku Nayuta (Twitter). Following several singles, here comes their first full-length album out now on download/streaming platforms!

The music is written by teoremaa (asimov is magician), Hana Tsuruuchi and Taisuke Tanaka (of Plectrum, The Broken TV). Member Aku also wrote the music "lost child" and lyrics and rap of a few other songs. Included are two covers, of asimov is magician ("Pola") and The Broken TV ("Puankon Thai").

Two days ago, the two did a free live streaming from a rehearsal studio for Aku's birthday, and it can still be viewed on YouTube (they sang the songs "Castella tabetai", "Starwberry" and "yum yum remix"). Also, a recent show can also be viewed via Twitcasting, with the archive available until July 18 (JST) (choose the "FRUN FRIN FRIENDS" ticket).

Yūsuke Shima is a trumpet and flute player and composer/arranger, active professionally since 2002. He has just released a new solo album, the 4th of his "Silent Jazz Case" project which is focused on original compositions. April Set, the solo project of DJ & producer Suzuki Masanori (Instagram), is releasing a new 7" this July 7 on Unchantable Records! The song is a cover of "aruite kaerou", a song by Saitō Kazuyoshi known as an opening theme of '90s TV kids show "Ponkickies". The cover gives the song a new Motown groovy style. It's sung by Nōka musician Kōsuke (YouTube channel). The B-side is a remix by DJ concorde.

Kinoco Hotel is releasing a brand new 8th album, titled "Marianne no mikkai"! Unlike the previous ("Marianne no ougi") which was a co-production, this time Kinoco Hotel is self-produced by leader Marianne Shinonome. It's the last album with bassist Giulietta Kirishima who had been a member for 8 years, and it's also the first with new drummer Natasha Urayasu who joined last year (and played on latest single "Red Flower Blue Flower / Silver Monochrome"). In other news, guitarist Isabelle Keme-Kamogawa has been suffering since May from a Triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) to her left wrist, and it was diagnosed that full recovery would take about three months. Best wishes for a prompt recovery! In shows, she is currently replaced by Christine Kameyoshi (aka Kame of bands Jollits and Gusha Ningen) until further announcement.

Kyoto emotional instrumental band colspan (Twitter), a trio of piano, guitar and drums, has just released a new song that features i-dep's singer Cana sotte bosse. Hear it via the streaming/download platforms linked below.

Nishioka Diddley (Bandcamp, SoundCloud), known as the guitarist of Childish Tones and Nih Khmers among others, has just released a new solo album! His music mixes chiptune and guitar sounds, using several types of Nanoloop as well as 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars. Head over to Bandcamp to follow him in his interstellar journey!
