Tokyo's Coolest Sound

Hoshino Michiru has released a single cut (7" with CD) of two songs from her new cover album "My Favorite Songs". Title song "watashi ga obasan ni nattemo" is a cover of Moritaka Chisato (1992), co-arranged by Arai Toshiya (Count Joke) and Hase Hajimu, and the B-side is a cover of EPO (1982), co-arranged by Satō Seiki (microstar) and Hase Hajimu.

ROVO is an instrumental band that's celebrating this year its 20th anniversary! Sometimes qualified as a "dance music band", it goes much beyond that by featuring double drums/percussions, electric violin, and by making songs that are mostly over 10 minutes. This 11th album features guest appearances by Nakamura Kōji (aka Nakako, aka Nyantora/iLL, member of LAMA and ex-Supercar) and tabla musician U-zhaan. With 5 songs, it clocks 64 minutes!

A tour will be held in November, with a show also featuring a band set by Koji Nakamura on November 11, and a solo tour finale on November 12, both at Daikanyama Unit. A talk show and autograph session will be held on November 5 at Tower Records Shinjuku 7F from 20:30.

"R.o.N"

Singer-songwriter dorlis has just recently released a new original album on Nakatsuka Takeshi's Delicatessen Recordings label. This is her first self-produced album, and the follow-up to "swingin' street 4" released 6 years ago (2010). "furidashi no kataomoi" was arranged by Nakatsuka Takeshi and features Osaka band Calmera's horn section. "hari no nai tokei" was produced by YoYo (SOFFet).

A release party will be held at Shibuya JZ Brat on November 6.

Halmens X is a limited time project led by two original members of new wave band Halmens (formed in 1979), Saeki Kenzo and Sensui Toshiro. 2016 marks the 35th anniversary of the release of album "Halmens no 20 seiki" (1981), and a special concert was held last August.

Then here comes "35 seiki", featuring many guest artists including Nomiya Maki (ex-Pizzicato Five), Suzuki Keiichi (Moonriders), Urbangarde, Furukawa Mirin and Yumemi Nemu (both of Dempagumi.inc), Tentenko (ex-BiS), Azuma Hitomi and more.

A special release event will be held on November 16 at Shibuya Club Quattro, which is said to will mark the end of the Halmens X project. Details here.

Released at the same time is greatest hits album "Halmens Deluxe + 11 History" (Amazon, CDJapan) which includes 11 bonus tracks, and a 2-CD + 7" box of pre-Halmens band Shonen Homeruns (Amazon, CDJapan).

Nakata Yasutaka (CAPSULE) collaborated with singer Yonezu Kenshi (aka Hachi) for the title song of movie "Nanimono". This soundtrack includes remixes as well as more music used in the film, all produced by Nakata. The movie will open in theaters on October 15.

Amazon offers a promo sticker, and HMV a promo clear folder (while supplies last).

lyrical school have a new single coming this week! "Magic Hour" is a brand new song, while "kakko warui furarekata" is a cover of Ōe Senri's hit song that was featured in the movie "Moteki" (2011) with added rap lyrics.

The limited edition includes two bonus remixes, by connie (Negicco's producer) and Sensui Masacherry.

Some free in-store events will be held, with one on Oct. 4 from 19:00 on the roof of Shibuya Marui (a lyrical school official store can be found on 8F until that day) (details), and another om Oct. 9 from 18:00 at Tower Records Shinjuku 7F (details). lyrical school's 6th anniversary event will be held on October 7 at Club Citta' in Kanagawa pref.
