Nakatsuka Takeshi (Qypthone), who this year celebrates 10 years of solo activity, has a new album coming. While several of the songs here have been previously released in demo form for free on the "Takeshi Lab" section of his web site over the past year, all have been re-recorded with a full band in studio, and for many of them the arrangements have also evolved. Featured are guest musicians Matsuoka "matzz" Takahiro (quasimode), Yohei (Jabberloop), Kawai Wakaba (Crazy Ken Band) and more. A cover of Flipper's Guitar hit song "koi to Machinegun" (aka "Young, Alive, in Love" — original on YouTube) is included!

This follows albums "Rock'N'Roll Circus" and "53512010" (download-only) both released in 2010.

"ma, iiya" (Short version)

Here comes Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's first live DVD, of her largest show to date held at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on November 6, 2012. The show's concept was of a pop-up picture book, and features many of Kyary's cute and colorful costumes with even a performance where she flies above the audience. All 20 songs performed are included.

This comes in DVD and Blu-ray editions. A limited edition (DVD only) comes with a bonus disc of a backstage documentary, bonus live footage from other shows, as well as videos of Kyary explaining how to dance "tsukematsukeru" and "Fashion Monster". The limited edition comes as a photo book package.

As usual, it's recommended to those who want the limited edition to order early just in case.

Perfume has a new single coming at the end of February, and the title song is being used as the new ending theme of anime series "Doraemon" (TV Asahi every Friday from 19:00). It will also be used as the theme song of Doraemon movie "Nobita no himitsu dōgu Museum" (Museum of Nobita's secret tools) to premiere in theaters on March 9. As usual the new songs are produced by Nakata Yasutaka.

The limited edition will include a DVD of the title song's video clip. Their limited editions often tend to sell out before release, so it's preferable to order early.

This month Denki Groove are back with a new single coming, a pop tune titled "Missing Beatz". This comes ahead of a new 13th album to be released on February 27, about which full details have yet to be announced (stay tuned!).

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who will be turning 20 on January 29, has a new single to be released on the next day. This double-A-single contains "kimi ni 100 Percent", theme song of anime series "Crayon Shinchan", and new song "furisode-shon" which Nakata Yasutaka says is an electro-pop tune he wrote especially for Kyary's birthday. Also included is an extended mix of "Candy Candy".

The release comes in 3 editions, the limited edition comes as a photo book, and there are two regular editions one of which has Crayon Shinchan artwork and a bonus track of the anime version of the song. This anime version is available separately on iTunes Japan.

Small Boys is a new unit formed of Nona Reeves' Nishidera Gōta and singer-songwriter Dōjima Kōhei. The two have in the past contributed many songs to Japan's top male idol groups such as SMAP, V6, Shōnentai, Kinki Kids, KAT-TUN, and with Small Boys they have their own take as a spin-off 80's style boy group, with a touch of humor.

Their first album is available in a limited edition that includes a small calendar.

Small Boys trailer

Nona Reeves have been making a tradition of doing a Christmas show every year at Shibuya Club Quattro, and year 2012 saw its 14th edition. This live album release is of the show from the previous year (the 13th) held in December 2011. The band featured extra members Tomita Yuzuru (mintmania), Mashiro Megumi (Hicksville), Murata Shige (Kuchiroro, Cubismo Grafico Five), and Matsui Izumi (ex-Bonobos), totaling 7! There was also a guest appearance of Rhymester's Utamaru.

Those who have the "Live Twelve" (Amazon) release from the previous year should note that the set list is quite different. Covers of "Jive Talkin'" (Bee-Gees) and "Don't Talk About It" (Culture Club) heard on cover album "Choice" (Amazon) are included.

The release includes both a CD and DVD.
