I spent about 2 hours trying to find the Escalator cafe last month. I just felt like I was walking into someones apartment. It was worth the effort though. I'm now fairly sure that i'm in love with Harvard. I've got the Yukari Fresh mix but i've not picked this one up yet. I found the YF mix to be a little hit and miss (the non-Japanese tracks being the worst. I bought the Le Hammond Inferno album on the strength of 'move your MP3' that was on the YF mix and was really disappointed)

Escalator Shop is very hard to find. Their map on their Web site seems to have improved a bit though, the previous one put a shop on the wrong corner, making it impossible to find them. :)

I also liked "Move Your MP3" but haven't checked out other recent Le Hammond Inferno.
Harvard is great! I hope to have a chance to see them live sometime.

Hmmm... I'll be in Japan in May. If it's that difficult to find, could you give me easier directions to get to the Escalator Cafe? Definitely a destination I'd like to hit.

Also, since this is my first trip to Japan, any events/galleries/gigs/shops I shouldn't miss?

I think there are no good-enough directions, the best is to use a real map.

On here, Escalator shop is in the center, Harajuku station is on the left.
You must also zoom in to view the small streets:

For stuff to check out in Tokyo, have a look at these sites:

Have fun!

Thanks for the info!

My only regret is not knowing about the Kahimi Karie show sooner. I won't be in Tokyo / Kyoto on the dates she's playing.

Thanks again!!!
